The City of Tshwane

Street name changes

What is your take in the new street names of many of the metropolitan areas of Tshwane?

Since we've completely eradicated all those other little problems like crime, poverty, housing and basic services it's good to see more of our tax money going to good use.

Don't forget about the promptly delivered textbooks in Zimpopo :D

I am liking those new street names, at least I can pronounce and spell them now.... :)they should change that Hendrik verwoed street in Centurion..

More money is spent on changing street names, than maintaining the actual road... Sure the people after which the roads are named will feel proud about the image which is created of them..."

  1. The changing of street names was a necessary measure to ensure that those who were directly affected by the Apartheid era find some kind of closure. Our young generation clearly doesnt understand this fully, thus the commentary;of how it is a waste of money, could have fixed roads instead, but if one thinks logically about these issues you see that the Government cannot do everything, they cannot fund every demand from every citizen, that is the reality.(so what if Jacob Mare is now Jeff Masemola? all it needs is a little getting used to,the same way we learnt the old street names, we shall learn the new ones)and move on and focus on other issues.
